Who We Were
A.H. Deveney & Company was founded in 1916 by Arthur Hood Deveney in Atlanta, GA. The agency was owned by Mr. Deveney until his death in 1954. At that time, his widow sold the agency to the six salesmen working for Mr. Deveney and requested that the company retain Mr. Deveney’s name.
The company headquarters was moved to Birmingham, AL where the agency was incorporated that same year becoming A.H. Deveney & Company, Inc.
Mike Mullen and his partners bought the agency in 1995 from Hank Schwabe and his son, Chuck. Hank Schwabe was the last remaining salesman who had worked for Mr. Deveney.
The headquarters remained in Birmingham until July 2000 when it was relocated to Baton Rouge, LA. At that time there were four salesman, and one office manager. Team AHDeveney had a small building which the company quickly outgrew.
Team AHDeveney moved over a few blocks into a new building that included a larger office, the first conference room, and a true warehouse. Over the years Team AHDeveney continued to grow and expand to 19 people.
